Lamoure was a stop I made while on a little “family history tour”. My 2nd great grandparents, who came from France, lived here in the 1890’s and had their 3 kids while living here! This spot is across the street from the old train station/park. This was a delightful surprise! If you are in the mood for a burger or ice cream this is the spot! I had the bacon cheeseburger, and a strawberry shush.....no regrets!

We walked down to the Big Cone while attending the North Dakota Toy Show over Father's Day weekend. It's a wonderfully clean place. Space to enjoy your ice cream indoors or outside under the shade of the roof. The small ice cream cone was anything but small.

Food was great.. Service was good. Wish they would have ice in the water they serve. It's 82 degrees outside.

Nestled in the heart of Lamoure, North Dakota, The Big Cone stands as a charming stop for those craving hearty burgers and indulgent ice cream. Located conveniently across from the old train station park, this spot offers more than just a meal—it’s a small slice of local history paired with genuine Midwestern hospitality.

The food here hits the mark with simplicity and flavor. The bacon cheeseburger, as noted by longtime visitor Jenny Schmeltzer, is a satisfying classic, packed with rich, smoky notes that linger with every bite. The ice cream is no afterthought either; the “small” cone Steve mentions arrives generously filled, promising a refreshing treat whether enjoyed indoors or under the shaded patio. Chelsey Schaefer’s praise for the mint Oreo Hurricane flavor reflects the brand’s ability to combine creamy textures with bold, memorable tastes.

Service at The Big Cone is friendly and sincere, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. While some suggest small improvements, such as adding ice to the served water on hot days, the overall experience remains inviting. The menu’s range—from fresh burgers and salads like the acclaimed taco salad to an array of ice cream flavors—makes The Big Cone a hidden gem along North Dakota’s byways.

Visiting here feels like stepping into a place where quality meets comfort. The balance of great pricing, clean surroundings, and dependable food quality ensures The Big Cone is much more than a roadside eatery; it’s a destination that invites you back time and again for its honest, delicious offerings.
